• 32% of all plastic packaging is not collected and plastic can take hundreds of years to degrade. 
• According to the report "Choked, Strangled, Drowned: The Plastics Crisis Unfolding in Our Oceans" released by Oceana: 1,792 animals swallowed or became entangled in plastic, 861 were sea turtles, including all six species found in U.S. waters, 88% were animals listed on the U.S. endangered species list.
• Eight million metric tons of plastic waste enter the oceans every year. This equates to one garbage truck’s worth of plastic being dumped into our oceans every minute. The total weight is the equivalent of 90 aircraft carriers. On top of that, models project that by 2050, there will be more plastic by weight than fish in the oceans.
• In 2020, 63% of the waste in the US ended up in landfills.
