We wanted to first and foremost wish you all a healthy and easy time during this pandemic and let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Like most of the US right now, we at Cleo+Coco are self-quarantined, working from home and switching to home school for our kids. I wanted to share with you some tips about what I’m doing in my house for my family to keep our immune system strong, along with our minds and spirits during this strange time.
Immune Boosting Tips:
Drink a ‘hot toddy’ daily: hot water, fresh squeezed lemon, some ginger and turmeric. You can add raw honey or Manuka honey to sweeten.
Take Elderberry Extract daily. I often add some elderberry extract to my hot toddy.
Increase your daily intake of Vitamin D and multi-vitamins. I will add Vit D drops to my hot toddy as well.
Make a bone broth with a lot of herbs like fresh rosemary and thyme along with lots of garlic and ginger. Drink it daily.
Make a fermented raw honey: mix a handful of peeled and cut fresh ginger into a raw honey container ¾ full of honey. Mix by shaking or turning over a few times a day. It will be ready to use in 2 days. Open it once a day to let air bubbles out. Tastes amazing plain, added to food, drinks and especially your hot toddy!
Feel free to reach out to me for more details on these recipes.
Try to do some Yoga and/or go outside for a walk in the fresh air daily. There are also some amazing fitness classes right now offering free trials of their streaming apps. Some of our favorites include: Melissa Wood Health, Megan Roup’s Sculpt Society, Holly Rilinger’s LIFTED. There are plenty more.
In my house, my kids are also hunkered down building games and learning to program through www.Khanacademy.org/computing/computer-programming/programming. I also understand that some Ivy League colleges are offering free online courses to the public – great time to learn something new. Kids thrive with self-directed learning – now’s a great time to let them do just that.
Cleo+Coco is still shipping to your houses, with extra safety precautions and e have a full stock of our award-winning charcoal deodorants. I personally find that purchasing some of my favorite clean beauty products is a great form of self-care now that I can’t go out to the gym or my favorite restaurant. What have you been doing for self-care during these difficult times? We are here for you if you have any questions. We thank you for your continuous support and wish you health and that this all passes quickly and painlessly.
